FAQ

Why pay if the appointment is free?

You pay for Doctr’s care coordination services, which include finding and booking your appointment. The insured medical consultation is covered by RAMQ with a valid health insurance card.

How soon can you help me get an appointment?

We help you find an appointment within 24–48 hours where available. The timeframe depends on clinic availability and your region; rural areas may take longer.

What if I can’t wait?

For a non-emergency concern, you can consider an online consultation. You can also check wait times at emergency rooms near you. If your life is in danger, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest ER without delay.

Is Doctr an alternative to 811 for finding an appointment?

Yes, for appointment booking assistance. Your Doctr care coordinator searches for and books a RAMQ-covered clinic appointment for you. Our paid service is independent of 811. Info-Santé 811 (option 1) provides free nursing advice, while option 3 connects eligible people with the Primary Care Access Point (GAP). Doctr does not replace Info-Santé’s medical advice.

Learn more about 811
Is Doctr affiliated with RAMQ or clinics?

Doctr is an independent booking assistance service. We have no affiliation with RAMQ scheduling systems and no priority access to clinic appointments.

Can I use this service without a RAMQ card?

Yes. We can also help you find and book an appointment without a RAMQ card. For example, you may be visiting Quebec with a health insurance card from another province, or be a temporary resident who isn’t eligible for Canadian public health insurance.

Can I book for my family?

Yes. The family plan provides booking assistance for up to 4 family members. Each person needs a valid RAMQ card for a covered medical appointment.

What happens after I send my request?

A care coordinator works on your request and keeps you informed. You can contact the team through the Doctr app. Once booked, you receive the appointment date, time and clinic details.
