I went to see Dr. Carini for two reasons: (1) in anticipation of a back packing treck in Burma's remote areas and asked him for a diarrhea stopper (e.g. Immodium) and broad spectrum antibiotic (e.g. Ciprofloxacin) and (2) for an inguinal hernia that has gotten worse. Regarding issue (1), he argued that this was wrong practice and refused to prescribe me anything. His argument was that if I was to become sick I could always go to the local doctor... in the jungle's wilderness...???... As for issue (2), he never asked and simply shook my hand goodbye... This young doctor in an incompetent and still has much to learn!
