I don’t usually post reviews, but Dr. Mila Smithies is a rare find. I first met her for a pre-conception consultation due to a past experience with preeclampsia. From that first meeting, her calmness and listening skills put me at ease. She went above and beyond by retrieving my old medical records and proactively starting me on aspirin while I was still TTC. Once I became pregnant, the real journey started. Despite challenges with gestational diabetes and back pain, Dr. Smithies was incredibly attentive, seeing me regularly and calling just to check in. When I struggled to manage my GD, she connected me with her excellent staff who supported me constantly. My elective C-section went perfectly, leaving a minimal scar, and she continued to follow up until we were discharged. Dr. Smithies has been a blessing to our family. This pregnancy was challenging, but she made the process stress-free. If you are referred to her, look no further—you are in very good hands.

If it were possible, I would give zero stars. My experience with Dr. Mila Smithies was extremely disappointing and upsetting. From the moment she entered the room, her attitude was cold and rude. She appeared to be in a very bad mood and immediately asked, “Why did they send you here?” which was confusing and unprofessional, especially considering I was referred for serious concerns during my pregnancy. When I tried to explain that I had been given distressing news and had many questions, she did not take the time to listen or explain anything. Every question I asked was brushed off or ignored. She stayed in the room for barely one minute and then left without providing any real medical guidance, reassurance, or support. This was one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, and I left the appointment feeling more anxious, unheard, and dismissed than when I arrived. I truly felt like I was not being treated as a patient who deserved care, compassion, or even basic communication. I have never had such a negative experience with a doctor before. I would not recommend her to anyone, especially not to pregnant patients who are already going through an emotionally difficult time

Dr. Smithies is, without a doubt, the best doctor I’ve seen in Canada. After experiencing two miscarriages, I had seen several OBs before meeting her, but none could figure out what was going wrong. When I found out I was pregnant for the third time, I was terrified and felt completely lost. Dr. Smithies provided the guidance and support we desperately needed, making it possible for us to have a successful pregnancy. She is very knowledgeable and also very kind with her patients makes her perfect OB. She listens all our question without rushing and answers each question. I’m extremely grateful for her care. 

I had a rouge pregnancy and delivery, Dr. Smithies was nothing but caring and supportive through the whole process. She went the extra mile so many times to make sure that I got the care I needed. I can't thank her enough. 

Dr.Smithies is a diamond in the rough OB. She is supportive, extremely knowledgeable, kind, empathetic and extremely supportive. We are so grateful to have had her through three pregnancies and have recommended her to many friends who also feel the same way about her care. We absolutely love Dr. Smithies!

Dr. Smithies was kind, intelligent and provided care with choice - nothing felt forced, she never reprehended me for my wishes during the birth of our daughter like doctors had in the past. She heard all my concerns and addressed them all. Highly recommended for high risk maternal care. 

Dr. Smithies is extremely supportive and knowledgeable. She is so reassuring with results after getting ultrasounds or if something unexpected comes up. Highly trained and caring - a rare combination :)

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Smithies during my first pregnancy and have gone back to her again for my second pregnancy. She is very knowledgeable, has a calm and reasuring presence and will easily make you feel at ease.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dr. Smithies. She was understanding, kind, thoughtful and really helped us feel heard and supported throughout our pregnancy. I was very nervous during my pregnancy due to a a previous loss, she had me come in biweekly for ultrasounds and appointments to help me stay grounded and informed on how things were going. I have recommend Dr. Smithies to friends and they have also had similar experiences. We cannot thank Dr. Smithies enough for her support, guidance, knowledge and care throughout our pregnancy. Thank you Dr. Smithies!

Dr. Smithies was very amazing to me, every appointment was insightful.

We had our first apt with her. She was dismissive, wouldn’t offer any explanation on what to expect. We ended up leaving the apt early. She told us trying to listen to the heart beat would be a waste of time. Just really horrible bedside manners. 

All had been going well until late into my 3rd trimester, so Dr. Mila Smithies was an unexpected addition to my birth plan. I was saddened and terrified to find out that a natural birth would not be a possibility, but Dr. Smithies’ reassurance and confidence in her recommendations was comforting. She was on time, respectful, warm, lighthearted, and, above all, incredibly knowledgeable!! She met all of my questions and concerns with facts and patience. I’m happy to say, she made the right call in regards to my health, and I have a beautiful, healthy newborn to show for it.

She was so rude and abrasive. Thank goodness she isn’t my full time OBGYN. Zero bedside manners. Do NOT see her. 

Honestly the worst doctor I have met.

She is the best doctor I ever had! She is direct but so attentive!! She did everything to help us go through my pregnancy and it was not an easy one. She calls back no matter what and even late, present and available at all times. I highly recommend that doctor, she is knowledgeable and professional. We adored working with her! 

It’s horrible!!!! She didn’t even know I was breech….I went through the pain like hell and ended up with the emergency C-section, all just because she didn’t notice my baby was breeched!! The whole medical team from the hospital, including myself thought I was capable to birth virginal, then I started to have fever….then the doctors from the hospital found out the baby was breeched…..兒

Bad doctor. Her ignorance and not knowing what to do with me lead me into complications and my babies are suffering because of her. Don’t see her if you want to have a healthy baby. Her medical license should be suspended.
