I'm 17 and don't usually go to Children but this time it was the one with the shortest wait time (Surprisingly)

I went there because I fell off my bike and suspected a bruised thumb but checked just in case. I still had almost full mobility and the only thing I couldn't do was close completely the finger. It didn't hurt there was no visible discolouration apart from the border of my nail being slightly dark (it wore off aftet a couple hours.)

I saw Dr. Chalut later and he immediately started touching my finger and twisting it around without asking me if it was ok. Thankfully my thumb barely hurt but I can't imagine if it had been worse. He sends me to an xray and he tells me I have a very small microfracture. He doesn't even show the xray to me or my dad. I had to ask someone else for it. I didn't see the fracture on the xray at all. I then say "soo for how long am I getting a splint" and he goes "oh no that's gonna be a cast", a full arm cast. I asked him why and he said because as soon as the fracture is visible on Xray even slightly, it's protocol to give a cast.

I probably should've argued more with him because his argument is completely flawed. In medicine yes there is protocols to follow but practitioners should also use their logic. My thumb was completely fine physically and in terms of pain, it looked normal. A splint would've been more than enough...

Anyways I went to the cast room and even the girl there said that it seemed ridiculous to cast for that so she asked the doctor why and he said the same thing, he sent the xray to the girl and even she couldn't locate the fracture. (she was rlly nice and understanding btw)

2 days later i'm now in a cast waiting for tommorow so I can get a second opinion. I really feel like the cast was overkill and unnecessary.

Dr Dominic Chalut from the Montréal Children Hospital did not do his job at keeping my child's health safe. We went in to the emergency with my 15 month old whi had high fever a swollen face filled with red spots all over his body and had vomited 4 times yet Dr. Chalut looked at my 15 month old checked his ears throat and said GO home it's a virus. He never gave blood work or checked for any viruses but sent us home with a sick baby. Thankfully we got an appointment with our child pediatrician who confirmed my 15 month old had a double ear infection and tested positive for Scarlet Fever. Dr. Dominic Chalut should NOT be treating children or anyone because be is clearly unfit and uncaring. This man should have his license revoked at once!!! It is Dr's like Chalut that make our medical system corrupt and terrible, remove the bad!!!!

Dr. Dominic Chalut who works at the Montreal Children's Hospital refuses to address complaints from patients of forced restraint and child abuse perpetrated by health care professionals at the MUHC. He cannot be trusted to make decisions in the best interest of patients, he will bend over backwards to protect abusive doctors and dentists instead of doing the right thing and defending children who are abused by Montreal's health care system.
