I cannot say enough good things about Dr Shan. She really takes care of her patients like her family. I was in hospital about to go into surgery and she was reading the notes at 10pm on a saturday night. She called me while I was in the hospital to inform me that there was no mention about an antibiotic I was on in the notes by my specialist. I completely forgot to tell the hospital I was on that. It changed the whole course of my treatment and they were able to figure out what was going on with me. I am so greatful to her for being on top of things. My entire family is so happy with her care. Please continue doing what you are doing and never change. I never wait for my appointment she has been running on time for a decade that I have been with her. I don't feel rushed, I find her to be thorough and when she doesn't know she gets back to us with options of what we can do. You can just tell when a doctor loves what they are doing and wants to be there for their patients. If you read this Dr Shan, thank you again for what you do!!!- JR

Got our whole family in. Dr Shan is so exceptional at taking care of her patients. She really just cares. I wish her practice isn’t full. Can’t get a doctor who cares more. Also the efficiency of the office is great. The staff is questionable but you have to deal with her to get to Dr Shan

Been with Dr Shan for 11 years. Hasn’t changed at all. No wait times, cares so much, listens and does her best to navigate the health care system. Her office responses are so quick. Nobody I know has a doctor like her. She’s got a beautiful new office that reflects her calming, healing nature. Thank you for all you do. I am happy knowing my entire family has you. 

Really happy with Dr Shan. She’s to the point and gets you in and out. I am not one for small talk so this works for me. It’s also really nice not to have to wait so long to see your doctor. I am a senior and no one has wanted me for so long. She took me on when everyone else just wants the young no problems persons. I am happy to have a doctor that actually cares. I am so appreciative that she tells you that it’s my choice for things and doesn’t push things on me. I don’t want do mammograms and paps. She explained to me why it’s important and said to me I could change my mind at anytime. I found that so rewarding because doctors look at me like I am crazy. The clinic is also so welcoming and calm. Something about her and the place is so healing. The admin is questionable. She forgets a lot and seems like she’s annoyed and doesn’t have the answers to things. You have to be patient with her. She’s the only way to get through to Dr Shan so make sure you are pleasant with her.

We are all in need of a family dr. Dr shan was looking for patients 50 znd over. I called the office znd spoke to the receptionist  and was later forward forms to fill out for a meet and great.   I got a call  back and  the receptionist  had no idea where scarborough  was I told her my husband and myself went to find their office and it took u all of 15 min from door to door. I was then told  we lived yo far.  I told her that was ridiculous  we are 15 min away.  I receptionist  was fo unprofessional  in her replies  she had no idea how to answer any of my question's    dhe said even if I was to make zn appointment gor meet and greet 

I just joined the practice a few months ago. I have been really surprised to hear any poor comments about Dr Shan. My husband had been with Dr Shan for 8 years since she took over the practice. She is so to the point and runs her practice very well. There have been some people asking why she isn’t accepting from anywhere. I wondered about that too.  Each area only accepts referrals from that postal code. So it’s a lot of work to find specialists out of Durham even Pickering Ajax. Also you can’t see any walkin clinics or any other family doctor due to the contract the government makes you sign when you join a family health organization (FHO). Thats for any doctor who is part of a FHO. It doesnt make sense that patients from far east Durham join because you wouldn’t make it to the practice in time in a rush and you can’t go to walkins. It’s better to be close to your doctor. It’s also very kind of her to open up some spots even though she has a full practice to the Pickering community. There’s so many elderly without a doctor. She really cares about the community and to help like that because she had a lot of elderly walkin to her. I got in like that as well. She does a lot of leadership stuff too for Durham and teaches medical students and residents. I thought this information would be helpful for people. 

Been looking for a doctor for a very long time. Dr Shan runs her practice like her patients are her family. She goes beyond helping her patients and she’s very available. I really feel lucky to have found her. If you need a doctor in Pickering, she’s the one. 

Just joined Dr Shan’s practice. She has been so through and quick to get back to me. Never had to wait. Always to the point and I can get through via email or phone. Everyone is Pickering sign up with her! 

Terrible doesn’t want to take my kid but claims to be a family dr?

Just started at her practice. Very thorough and gets back to you with results and discussion. Happy I made the change. Not ideal for someone who needs evenings. I am retired so it’s perfect. Also really easy to get into for appointments and available urgent care on weekends. It has been a very pleasant switch. 

Dr Shan is excellent. The new location matches her zen personality better. Happy she moved. We are always in and out at our scheduled visit. We enjoy the service and we can reach the office easily. 

Amazing doctor. So down to the earth and she really cares. I know if something is wrong I can count on her to figure it out. She checked up on us when we were in the ER and told us what to look out for. We find her to love helping people and she goes out of her way to be there for us. Access is excellent. Love the new place, its got a healing feeling to it and spa like atmosphere.

Really happy with Dr Shan. Very knowledgeable and takes time to explain multiple times. 

Best doctor. I love Dr Shan! I can’t imagine having a more compassionate and advocating doctor. She is on top of all her work and looks out for us. 

Was on her wait list for over a year. The wait was worth it. I waited 2-3 weeks to see my previous doctor. I never wait to be seen here. 

It’s been a long year. I couldn’t have done it without Dr Shan. I think there’s a doctor and a doctor that cares and that’s her. I even see her answer her own phones and emails because she is short staffed. I would be dead if it wasn’t for her. 

I can get in within 15 mins of calling. I am in and out in 5. Dr Shan really listened and picked up on something I didn’t even think of. Happy to have someone care. 

Dr Shan is very caring and takes the time to put together what I am telling her into a diagnosis. I appreciate how much she does even when she doesn't have staff. Answering her own calls, emails and even seeing patients on sundays. She goes out of her way to be there for her patients.

Dr Shan goes well and beyond being available. As a mom of young kids, she explains things to me and makes it very easy to understand. 

I appreciate how much Dr Shan goes out of the way for our family. We have 24 of us grand parents, parents and grandkids in the practice. I find she is very much caring for all of us and our needs. In the 5 years with her we have never had to wait for any of our appointments. She respects our time and we respect hers. Thank you for being a great doctor.

Been Dr Shan’s patient for 9 years. She’s so helpful, direct and always gets things done fast. I can get in same day when sick and next day if not. I don’t wait in the waiting room all these 9 years. People who complain about her should just leave. You don’t deserve her. My 15 family members are with her and we all have the same experience.

I find the comments below to be insane. Doctors can’t be available all the time. You have to follow their hours. I can see why she has such a long wait list to get into her practice. My entire family is still waiting. 

Treats her patients as a burden rather than individuals in her care. If you don't fit within her box and business hours, you're not worth treating. Horrible bedside manner.
